Scupltures of Kilátókő

On the north-western slope of Gellért Hill, on the top of Gruber József Cistern and near the Garden of Philosophy there is the statue of Kilátókő (Lookout Rock) aka the sculptures of Prince Buda and Princess Pest unveiled in 1982. The sculpture group made of bronze and stone is 1.5 meters high. The figures were made by Márta Lesenyei.

The base was made by György Vadász displaying parts of Budapest in stylized layout-like manner. The gap separating the two figures represents the Danube. Prince Buda and Princess Pest reaching out to each other symbolize the unification of the two towns. In accordance with its name this is a place with a scenic view over the city.
